“UIM Awards Giving Gala”

The Uim is pleased to announce that the third edition of the UIM Awards Giving Gala will be held in Monaco, Salle des Etoiles, on the 11th of February 2012. This prestigious location will be the stage where all the 2011 Powerboating World Champions will receive their deserved honours.
The UIM Awards Giving Gala is an event which has already increased its added value year after year and there will be 80 World Champions representing 25 countries which will be honoured by over 400 VIP guests.
Several significant recognitions such as the 2011 UIM Environmental Award, the Special Mentions and the “Stefano Casiraghi Memorial Trophy” will be awarded at the event.
“The UIM Awards Giving Gala has developed into a key appreciated UIM event”, stated the UIM President Raffaele Chiulli. “Our Champions dream during the whole season to step up on the stage of the Salle des Etoiles in Monaco and our partners and guests are really pleased to honour all together the protagonists of our sport. It is a great effort for our Federation but the 2011 Sport Season couldn’t have a more prestigious closing event”.
The UIM Environmental Award has been launched in 2009 to inspire and recognize excellence in innovation, development and application of environmentally friendly technologies. Among the main selection criteria: Innovation, Significance, Practicality, Usability, Economic Feasibility and Environmental Benefit. For the 2011 edition there will be a Winner and three Special Mentions. The “Stefano Casiraghi Memorial Trophy” is the honour annually given in recognition of special service to the sport and to whom in their career have done something special in improving and developing our sport. A significant number of VIP guests, testimonials and top representatives from National Authorities, Council, Promoters, International Sport Federations, Institutions, Boatyard Industry, IOC, selected enterprises and international Media will attend this prestigious event at the wonderful Salle des Etoiles.
The UIM is the world governing body for all Powerboating activities. It is fully recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and is a member of SportAccord, former General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), and the Association of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) on which the UIM President serves as a Board member. The UIM has around sixty affiliated National Federations representing thousands of passionate pilots. Circuit, Offshore, Pleasure Navigation and Aquabike are among the main disciplines of the UIM.
