July 7, 2016 Leave a comment

78HT EVOLUTION – DEBUTTO MONDIALE

Vicem Yachts 65 Flybridge
World debut of a timeless classic all-mahogany luxury yacht

Vicem Yachts is pleased to announce the new Custom 65’ Flybridge has successfully been launched.
If there is one word that describes the all-new 65 footer offering, it is spacious. With a beam of 18′,5” there is sufficient interior volume to choose between spacious two and three cabin designs, to offer luxurious galley-up or galley-down choices, or to add a convertible office or a dinette below. The dimensions boast a LOA of 19,8m-65′ and a draft of 1.60m-5’3” with 49,500kg-91.490 lbs. of displacement with full load.

A “modern classic” – the all new Vicem 65 Classic FB – is handcrafted from the finest materials available and considered to be the best in its class and size range. This yacht – designed by Vicem’s in-house design team – has a handsome classic look and provides a quiet, smooth ride because of Vicem’s superior design and construction technique. Vicem 65 Classic FB unveild during  the Palm Beach International Boat Show has a galley-up and the below deck offers 3 cabins plus an additional berth accessible from VIP cabin for an overall of 8 guests. This unique 2 in 1 cabin showcases the customizability Vicem offers.

Powered by 2X Volvo Penta D13-900 (2 x 900 HP – 662kW @2,300rpm) the 65 Flybridge it’s easy to drive thanks to the Volvo Penta control system and conventional shaft drive. At 10 knots a long range of over 1,000 NM is featured, while at 22 knots of cruising speed it goes to 350 NM. Performance goes up to 27 knots at maximum speed.

All Vicem Yachts are constructed of African and South American Mahogany and Epoxy resin. Mahogany is a renewable resource, reducing our carbon footprint. Also noteworthy, is the fact that Vicem Yachts are constructed in clean factories without the smell of styrene emissions found in polyester fiberglass factories. Every employee at Vicem is a qualified carpenter, designer or engineer who goes that extra mile to ensure the highest quality in their workmanship.
All wood on a Vicem hull and the keel, chine, sheer, frames, and beams are coated with epoxy resin serving as a moisture barrier. The exterior of the hull and interior of the entire bilge and engine room area is further coated with a layer of E-glass cloth and epoxy resin that is finished with epoxy fairing compounds, epoxy primers, and poly-urethane paint. Over 151 Vicem Yachts up to 107 feet have been built using this time-proven blend of modern and traditional construction methods.
The building technique used to create the 65 Flybridge is the same used for all Vicem Classic & Cruiser lines (Classic and Fly Bridge models, from 52’ to 80’) and the Cruiser models (from 68’ to 107’): the cold molded process. A millenary, unique construction technique which embodies all the construction methods of the Turkish historical marine tradition; a modern procedure different from traditional boat building. Based on engineered wood construction, cold-molding uses laminated mahogany (coming from managed forests) and a specific formulated epoxy resin to create the hull, decks and principal superstructures. This results in a stronger and quieter vessel with a smoother ride, providing natural insulation from humidity and noise.

Design “Wow Factors”
– The hight of the saloon and the cabins area is giving more space for the tall owner
– Instead of a crew room, a child room has been built as requested by the owner. Vicem designers team has created a very smart connection to the double bed cabin in order to have a junior family suit. Additionally the stairs have been used as an exit for the child room. This feature is particularly interesting if the child room is used as a crew space, for resale purposes extras. Just in case, the next eventual owner of this boat would like to have a crew on board, they can use this stairs for the captain private access with no direct contact with people living on the port side cabin.
– Standard guest cabin has two twin bed that can turn into a king size with an extra piece to put in the middle. This room also has a bunk bed with stainless steel stairs.
– Owner asked for a business working area at the galley space. Hand made stool and an integrated table have been built in-house by Vicem.
– Custom hand made ottoman and chairs inside the saloon area.
– Galley and all restrooms have marble floors and countertops.
– Custom stainless steel flybridge stairs has been conceived to offer maximum outside view from the saloon.
– Behind the helm seat the yacht has two 120cm long special drawers for extra storage.
– Evenly distribution of the air-condition canals.
– All high gloss varnished.

Arcadia 115, delightful surprise in efficiency and speed

ARCADIA 115 : FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

The Arcadia 115 offers a delightful surprise with her combination of efficiency and speed

“Probably not necessary to point out that you haven’t seen a motor-yacht quite like this before. But if you can see from the outside that she offers something different, it’s not until you step aboard that you can appreciate just how radical she really is. Imagine the most ice-cool modernist apartment ever conceived and you’re getting some idea. But this one floats, and moves”  this is how Ugo Pellegrino – President of Arcadia introduced Arcadia 115.

Her unique appeal runs deeper than interior design, though, to fundamentals such as light and space as shown to such memorable effect in those floor-to-ceiling windows. Headroom is more than 7 feet on the main deck, and well over 8 feet in the private saloon upstairs. The sense of space is enhanced by limitless views through those transparent exterior walls except when the two amidships balconies are folded down, and there are no walls at all.

The 115 doesn’t just feel improbably spacious for her length. Thanks to her beamy, round-bilge hull, she really does offer more internal volume than a typical 115-footer. The 115’s hydrodynamics are key to the Arcadia concept, combining a broad performance envelope with fuel efficiency and seakeeping. Her semi displacement hull form, adapted by Arcadia from designs originating at Britain’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), allows cruise speeds from 8 knots to almost 17 with little change in running attitude. Plus, the hull’s full sections add more interior depth than a typical planing hull, giving the 115 internal headroom without external height.

From the wide-open spaces of the upper deck to the broad and bright deck saloon, the 115’s entertaining areas are spectacular, with plenty of seating and dining space. Floors and bulkheads on our yacht were finished in oak, with cabinets of contrasting ebony and lacquer, reflective, high-gloss deck-heads, and dark marble in the bathrooms.

The interiors also featured furnishings by Poltrona Frau, although of course Arcadia would be happy to listen to a prospective owner’s ideas for an interior scheme. The glass used on the boat, incidentally, is not the stuff they use for greenhouses: it’s German, double-glazed, and filled with encapsulated, inert gas, which reportedly gives it the insulating qualities of a 20cm brick wall.

From the various layout options, the standard is a four-cabin version of the lower deck, two doubles and two twins. At the upper deck Arcadia 115 offers a jolly cabin (back to the wheelhouse area) that may be assigned to Captain or Vip guests as extra accommodation.

With the spectacular full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, and four cabins down forward in the well appointed crew’s quarters, the yacht’s full complement is 10/12 guests and 8 crew – ideal in case of yacht charter. The three-cabin lower deck layout features a full-beam VIP suite aft in place of the two doubles. The tender garage can accommodate a 14-foot RIB and two Personal Water scooters.

Loaded as we were with something like 9 tons of fuel and water, not to mention 8 tons of lead ballast in the lowest part of the hull, the 115’s progress through the water was reassuringly determined. Applying 10 degrees of helm revealed a surprisingly tight turning circle and a modest angle of outward heel, which increased as more helm was applied. Long, fixed, roll-dampening fins have also been added in front of the stabilizers.

Arcadia claims that the 5-kilowatt photovoltaic panels (overall of 60 sqm) give the superstructure’s roof glass not only a futuristic look but also provide sufficient power on a bright day to run the refrigerators and freezers, plus lights, fans, and pumps, without the need for a generator, which will make sitting at anchor a whole lot quieter and more environmentally friendly.

For serious passage-making owners might choose to cruise at 8 knots or so to maximize the yacht’s range, but it is at 12.5 knots that the 115 really comes into its own as a luxury cruising machine. At that speed, to be achieved with the 12-cylinder MANs ticking over at a relaxed 1570 rpm, the miles slip by at a satisfactory rate but at a comparatively modest cost in fuel thanks to the yacht’s immense diesel capacity you should manage over 1,200 nautical miles at this speed.

In a yacht that impress for her concept, design, and performance, and also for her sheer presence on the water – that alluring mix of competence and confidence – it was this eerie silence onboard that perhaps made the strongest impression. So while you might not have seen a motor-yacht quite like this before, you certainly haven’t heard one like it.

FB801 M/Y VICA, first Benetti vessel with two different techniques

March 3, 2016 Leave a comment

BENETTI FB801 M/Y VICA: FIBERGLASS WEDS ALUMINUM FOR COMPLETE COMFORT AND FLEXIBILITY

–  Two technologies, with the hull in fiberglass and the superstructure in aluminum

–  Ample open spaces to enjoy life on the water

–  Three lateral balconies open on the sea

–  Comfortable sailing with minimized vibrations

FB801 M/Y VICA – 50 meters long – is the first Benetti vessel built using two different techniques: the hull is in fiberglass, while the superstructure is in aluminum. With a concept of flexible moulding the superyacht meets the client’s different customizing needs. A yacht for the Mediterranean, with ample open air spaces – a spacious open deck astern, and forward with the upper deck and an enormous sun deck.

Exterior lines are characterized by fashionable full height windows that not only fill the interiors with natural light but also streamline her profile. A unique feature of the VICA are the three hatches in the hull. The first is laterally placed towards the stern for launching and recovering the tender; the second serves as a bathing platform; the third opens into the lower deck lobby giving air and light to an otherwise closed area.

Another unique feature for vessels of this size is an automatic gangway down to sea level, exclusively for the owners use FB801 M/Y VICA – designed to fall under 500 gross tons – is a state of the art Benetti yacht, with the latest in on-board comfort and extensive and pleasurable outdoor areas: a complete Mediterranean yacht.

VICA has four decks linked by a central staircase that opens onto elegant lobbies that in turn provide access to the rest of the living areas. In addition to the four decks we have the under lower deck with the engine room, service areas, holds, and laundry.

Her internal layout is classic, with four guest cabins on the lower deck, the owner’s suite forward on the main deck, and an additional cabin on the upper deck.

The large main salon greets guests on the main deck, and is visually separated from a more intimate zone with a grand piano, karaoke, an American style corner bar and sofa, and from another more intimate area with lounge chairs, coffee tables and extra wide plasma TV screen. Moving forward, we first enter the foyer with staircases leading to the other decks, leading in turn to the ample professional galley to port and the owner’s apartment to starboard. The suite features a large study and a full beam cabin with an exclusive private terrace complete with a gangway leading down to the sea. The suite features his and her bathrooms, complete with shower and bathtub, and separated by a walk-in closet.

The four guest suites are on the lower deck, the after two with queen size beds and the forward two with twin beds, and are separated by the lobby. Here we also have an exterior terrace that expands when opening the hatch, giving light and air to the interiors. Completely separated from the guest area are the six cabins for the twelve members of the crew.

The dining room features a large oval table for twelve guests in the upper deck salon. On the same deck we find another guest cabin and forward, the captain’s cabin, next to the bridge. The showpieces of the upper deck are the open air spaces: while the stern deck is quite spacious, the foredeck is exceptionally spacious, with an enormous divan and two chaise lounge next to the Jacuzzi, allowing guests to pass the whole day at sea in total privacy, both on this deck and on the sunbathing deck.

The sun deck, dedicated exclusively to life in the open air, features a second Jacuzzi surrounded by a large sunbathing area, a luncheon table and a bar with barstools where you can enjoy a drink at any time of the day or night. Forward of this area, the other leisure area can be transformed into a touch and go helicopter pad. VICA’s owner didn’t opt for this feature, but the ship’s structures are ready to host the weight of a small helicopter to ferry guests aboard.

The interiors are all designed by Benetti, under the guiding hand of the architect Mariarosa Remedi and in collaboration with the owner’s personal interior designer.

Atmosphere and décor follow the home feeling style and are the primary inspiration for all the ambients with the exception of the foyer, where we have the notable stairway in wrought iron and the sundeck skylight that inundates the lower deck with natural light.

The interiors are warm and classic, with a predominant use of cherrywood, both smooth and satin finished (for the cabins), with detailing in rosewood. Lighting is very suggestive, completely supplied by LED, and the interior illuminated alabaster columns have dynamic light temperature controls via iPad.

Technically, the Benetti FB801 M/Y VICA maintains her classic configuration, with a fiberglass displacement hull propelled by two CAT C32 Acert developing 970 kW each, guaranteeing adequate performance for her 498 gross tons. Thanks to this configuration VICA has a cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots, but can  easily reach her top speed of 15.5 knots or cruise at 14 knots with her engines working at 85% of their maximum load.

The M/Y VICA guarantees a comfortable hull ride, practically without vibrations and noise which have been reduced thanks to a special elastic link between the engines and propellor shafts.

The Naiad stabilization system is also perfect for the typical mooring habits of the owner, usually at anchor and rarely in port.
