TANKOA YACHTS WORLD DEBUT OF S501 M/Y VERTIGE AT NEXT MONACO YACHT SHOW 2017

TANKOA, the first boutique shipyard with a multicultural approach to yachts construction, announces that the new S501 M/Y Vertige will make her official debut at next Monaco Yacht Show 2017 (27 to 30 of September).

M/Y Vertige – key facts
Sale date: February 2015
Launch date: February 2017
Delivery date: May 2017
Concept and Exterior Design: Francesco Paszkowski
Interior Design: Francesco Paszkowski in cooperation with Margherita Casprini

M/Y Vertige, the second unit of Tankoa Yachts – sold in February 2015 to an experienced French client – after a successful delivery and a busy charter season in the Mediterranean will make her official debut at the next September Monaco Yacht Show 2017.
Tankoa S501 Vertige represents the quintessence of the result between a high quality builder and a marketing and sales organization that is in daily contact with yacht Owners, Captains and Surveyors.
S501 M/Y VERTIGE DESIGN STATEMENT
Tankoa’s management team worked in close collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski to design the project and fulfill the following set goals:
– Achieve a perfectly balanced, fluid and timeless design that will not look like what is currently offered on the market.
– Offer perfect circulation flows for owners and guests, providing them with the possibility to move from deck to deck and from inside to outside area without interfering with the working crew, while at the same time giving the crew total freedom of movement to carry on with their tasks.
– Provide a 499 gross ton package for the Owner with amenities and features commonly found on much larger yachts.
– S501 hull N°1 is a six cabins yacht that includes: main deck full beam Owner and Vip suite, two Vips and two guest cabins on the lower deck, gym, home cinema on the upper deck, a 7-meter tender garage, two jet skis and rescue tender forward. Other amenities include floor to ceiling windows, foldout hydraulic terraces in the owner’s suite and on the aft deck increasing the already considerable available space…
Allowing permanent visual contact with the sea was one of the other tasks assigned to Francesco Paszkowski’s design team. Interiors, as per client’s request, were designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio in cooperation with Margherita Casprini and reflect a “modern but warm” atmosphere.
The result will simply be one of the most beautiful 50-meter yacht ever build under 500 GRT. The level of detailing, both inside and outside, is in line with what everyone usually expects to find onboard much larger yachts.

S501 M/Y VERTIGE BUILDER STATEMENT
The Tankoa Vertige S501 is built entirely in aluminum light alloy 5083.
Construction has been carefully followed by the project manager and builder engineer Albert McIlroy, the owner’s representative. Albert has been responsible for supervising construction of a number of yachts worldwide and mainly in Northern Europe. McIlroy recently declared – “With S501, Tankoa Yachts has greatly improved their time schedule management and operation processes and they truly have a teutonic approach that often leaves me speechless for an Italian builder. I can say, after having supervised the construction of many yachts worldwide, not only the work pace and productivity at Tankoa are superior but it is also probably the first time I see the production schedule fully respected without altering the incredible flexibility that Tankoa is becoming known for.”
The above mention factor is truly a plus as the Tankoa organization and business plan, calling for only-the-best subcontractors and suppliers, comes within a package offering typical Italian styling and flexibility at a more competitive price point than our northern European colleagues.
S501, while still under the 500 GRT mark, offers spectacular layout and amenities that include:

  • Main deck owner’s suite and master’s suite. The owner’s suite is equipped with two lateral foldout terraces.
  • Two Vip and two guest cabins on the lower deck.
  • A gigantic aft deck and fly bridge. The aft deck is equipped with an oversized sun pad, a reversed deck salon looking aft and a lateral three meter long foldout terrace to keep guests in contact with the sea.
  • Floor to ceiling windows in the main salon with cut down bulwarks providing an excellent view.
  • A 7m tender garage.
  • Two jet skis and another service tender forward.
  • Upper deck TV salon with bar.
  • Upper outdoor deck with dining table for 14 guests and wrap-around sofa for up to 20 people with a foldable TV screen.
  • Beach club/gym in the transom area.
  • Full displacement aluminum hull to reduce both draft and fuel consumption while allowing for easy maintenance.

YARD COMMENTS AFTER SEA TRIALS
Tankoa Yachts reported excellent results after the S501 M/Y Vertige recent sea trails. According to contract specifications, top speed was to be 16 knots at half load.
While performances of 50 meter long Vertige were to be measured in calm seas and five knots of wind, actual sea trails took place with over a meter waves and a crossed choppy sea with northerly wind gusts up to 30 knots.
Edoardo Ratto, General Manager of Tankoa Yachts, commented: “Since for the very first sea trails, which lasted about eight hours, were simply incredible. Vertige reached a top speed of 16.5 knots at 60% load (about 33,000 liters of fuel and more than 20,000 liters of water). S501 has a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, which really makes a difference when going for Atlantic crossings. There were no vibration at all and the decibel readings were inferior to contracted levels – in the owner’ssuite and Vip cabin, levels were below 50 decibels”.
During the first trails, while performing all the maneuvers foreseen by international standards, the Vertige’s excellent handling was confirmed: even when the stabilizers were not enabled, the yacht demonstrated excellent stability.

12th UNIT OF A85 SOLD TO A BRITISH CLIENT

ARCADIA YACHTS’ DEBUT MODEL STILL LEADING-EDGE

– ARCADIA YACHTS has sold the 12th example of its first model – two A85s have splashed each year since the model premiered
– The sale also confirms the Italian brand’s international appeal as the new owner is a British citizen
– The A85 delivers approx. 100 m2 of communal space on its aft-deck
– 40 m2 of  this-generation photovoltaic cells guarantee an impressive 4.5 kW of zero-emissions power

Some yachts remain at the cutting-edge for many years after they first appear on the market. The ARCADIA A85 is one such fortunate craft. The very first model from an Italian yard hailed a radical break with tradition on its launch seven years ago and very quickly set a new benchmark for the sector. The design remains so contemporary, in fact, that several new builds making an appearance on the market were clearly inspired by the ARCADIA YACHTS 26-metre.

ARCADIA is now delighted to announce the sale of A85 Hull no. 12 to a British owner. This is a particularly significant achievement as it means that, seven years on from its unveiling, the A85 continues to sell at a rate of two a year worldwide. The Arcadia Yachts brand’s international appeal is one of its greatest strengths: almost all of its models have sold to owners from outside of Italy, demonstrating that the unique features the craft offer are acknowledged across the globe.
The yard’s solidity also means that owners only have a short wait for delivery of their yachts. A85 Hull no. 12 is a perfect example, as, with negotiations underway, we quickly put a new unit into production, cutting delivery time to just over four months from the order date.
WHAT MAKES THE A85 UNIQUE
Man, his relationship with nature and his ability to live in harmony with his surroundings have always been at the very heart of ARCADIA’s design philosophy. Even the most cursory glance at the A85 is confirmation of that approach. Its styling is simple and sober with a harmonious mix of interior and exterior areas. Even the enclosed spaces seem to melt away and disappear into the surrounding natural setting. The linear design of the superstructure and the vertical line of the bow have allowed us to make optimal use of every single inch of available space both interior and exterior – a fact attested to by the generous 100 square metres or so of living area on the main deck which is significantly larger than other yachts of similar dimensions on the market. The A85S’s main saloon is cosy and inviting with a large eight-seater table in its bow area so that diners can be served directly from the galley via a sliding hatch.

The bright winter garden leads into the spacious aft-deck lounge, where the cockpit includes a second table ideal for al fresco lunches and suppers. There is also a large sunning area from where owner and guests can truly luxuriate in the marine environment.
There are four cabins on the lower deck, the most notable of which is, of course, the master amidships. This impressive 32 square metre space includes an unparalleled bathroom with its own large wellness area. The spacious VIP cabin, complete with double bed and walk-in closet, lies forward. Last but not least are the two twin guest cabins. The quarters for the 4 crew are in the bow section.

LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY
One of the A85’s other great strengths is its extremely efficient fuel consumption which is 30-50% lower than semi-displacement yachts of comparable dimensions, resulting in similarly lower running costs. These results come thanks to the yacht’s NPL semi-planing hull which was developed by the National Physical Laboratory in England to deliver the most hydrodynamically efficient hull forms and length-beam ratio. The combination of this advanced hull and ARCADIA YACHTS’s exceptionally light superstructure has produced impressive performance figures even under limited engine power which in turn cuts costs. The A85 sports twin 730 hp MAN diesel engines, guaranteeing it a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising one of 16. Needless to say, absolute comfort is guaranteed. The engine room is insulated with multilayer sound-absorbent materials and also features silenced exhausts to reduce guest-perceived noise levels. Consequently, a level of just 70 dB was recorded on the aft-deck of the A85 at 12 knots which is just slightly above the murmur of a crowded saloon. Staying with the subject of acoustic comfort, the internal bulkheads were also made using specific sound-absorbent okoumé marine ply panels over an extruded polystyrene closed-cell foam core to guarantee absolute privacy and quiet to guests. The ARCADIA YACHTS’ philosophy focuses not just on fostering a closer relationship with the environment but also on actively safeguarding it. In fact, over 40 square metres of solar panels have been integrated into the A85’s superstructure, yielding around 4.5 kW of power. This is enough to run the main utilities aboard which, in turn, results in a considerable saving in diesel, reduced pollution levels and improved onboard comfort, thanks to a substantial reduction in noise and vibration levels as well as zero emissions.

OTAM CUSTOM RANGE SD 35m M/Y GIPSY WINS THE WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS 2017 IN THE CATEGORY 34M TO 39.9M PLANING MOTOR YACHTS

We are pleased to announce that the M/Y Gipsy – the first unit in the Ligurian shipyard’s aluminum Otam Custom Range – has won a World Superyacht Award in the “Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 34m to 39.9m” category on Saturday May 13th during the ceremony held by Boat International Media in Florence, Italy.

This result follows last February’s win in the ShowBoats Design Awards 2017 in the category “Best naval architecture 2017”.

Gianfranco Zanoni – Otam Yachts CEO commented: “This is the second important award for the Otam shipyard after last February’s, when Gipsy won in the “Best Naval Architecture for Semi-Displacement Yachts” category at the ShowBoats Design Awards 2017. This new award demonstrates the value of the direction we took with the Otam Custom Range, a direction that allows us to follow new opportunities, exploring the development of different products alongside owners who are looking for a high degree of customization. So we would also like to thank the owner of Gypsy who has allowed us to create such a unique product. We are proud to share our satisfaction with the rest of the team, including Tommaso Spadolini and Umberto Tagliavini at Marine Design Studio, for the excellent collaboration.”

The judges at The World Superyacht Awards 2017 have awarded the SD 35m M/Y Gipsy in the Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 34m to 39.9m category. Among their motivations the clean lines and the optimization of exterior space stand out. The judges also evidenced “the modern style of the interiors, perfectly integrated with her exterior lines”.

At the same time the yacht was also commended for her ability to reach a speed of 20 knots and cruise with a range of 2,000 miles at a cruising speed of 11 knots. The yard from Genoa has managed to unite efficient hydrodynamics with elegant lines, with special attention paid to performance, sea-kindliness, range and fuel efficiency.

This the mantra of Otam Yachts, with their 63 years of history and construction based on the creation of yachts with exceptional sea keeping qualities and efficient, sporty performance.

The yard is extremely proud to receive this award as recognition not only for the yacht itself, but for the incredible passion and effort exhibited by the yard since its beginning in 1954.

M/Y OTAM GIPSY 35M – AT A GLANCE

Please find full details at the enclosed press release and a short description here below.

– Aluminum for maximum customization flexibility
– Superior volumes for the less than 300GT(295GT) category
– Naval Architect Umberto Tagliavini
– Stunning and unique lay-out and interiors by Tommaso Spadolini translating Owner’s needs and personal style
– Over 2000 nm of range and a maximum speed of 20 knots

The first Otam Custom Range 35 unit – M/Y Gipsy – is a three deck 35 meter long, 7.8 meter beam yacht, ordered by an experienced Italian owner who was searching for a full custom aluminum yacht, tailor-made to fit his lifestyle.

The new Otam Custom Range 35 offers a unique amount of living space onboard. Her aluminum construction allows the yard, in close collaboration with the client, to create a unique version that reflects personal taste both in interior layouts and exterior lines, both of which have been assigned to Tommaso Spadolini, the famous international yacht design office.

The interiors, again unique and full-custom built like a bespoke suit, are another Otam strength since ever. And with her 295 GRT displacement, therefore under 300 GRT “limit”, the yacht offers remarkable larger volumes than any other competitor in her category.

In regards to performance, the new Otam Custom Range 35, exploiting the yard’s engineering capabilities enhanced by the successful experience designing and building the Millennium Line, together with their long standing partner Naval Architect Umberto Tagliavini, has designed a very efficient semi-displacement hull that will give the Otam Custom Range 35 a top speed of 20 knots and a considerable range of over 2,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.

S/Y SYBARIS PERINI NAVI NAMED 2017’S BEST SAILING YACHT AT 2017  WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS

Philippe Briand has designed the hull, underwater appendages, rig, sail plan and main characteristics of this modern 70 metre ketch. He is the main naval architect of the project.
All judges were impressed with the naval architecture, sailing ability, supreme comfort, exceptional division of internal volumes and her technical innovations.

The 70 metre superyacht Sybaris by Perini Navi has been proclaimed ‘Best Sailing Yacht of 2017’ in both the 40-metres-plus category and overall at this year’s prestigious World Superyacht Awards. The official ceremony was held on 13 May in Florence, Italy.
Philippe Briand has designed the hull, underwater appendages, rig, sail plan and main characteristics of this modern 70 metre ketch. He is the main naval architect of the project.
The Owner of Sybaris – Mr Bill Duker referred: “Philippe Briand was selected to be the naval architect for Sybaris because he was seen 5 years ago as the person who would be regarded as the best naval architect today. The selection of Sybaris as the best sailing yacht in the 40-metres-plus category and the sailing yacht overall winner proves we were correct.
The Jury panel commented their decision: “Sybaris not only impressed the judges with its sailing ability – particularly in light airs when many yachts of this size resort to mechanical power – but also in the yacht’s supreme comfort and optimum division of internal volume that entirely suits the owner’s needs. Some technical innovations have already been mentioned, but there are more in that the sail plan, rig and underwater appendages were subjected to extensive CFD testing, which allowed detailed optimization of rig, hull shape and appendages. Beautiful, capable, comfortable, and technically advanced this is a yacht that was considered supreme for its purpose”.
The streamlined and contemporary superstructure is topped with an impressive flying bridge that is 18m in length; the largest of any sailing yacht afloat. At 850 gross tonnes, Sybaris has wide-open and well-lit interior spaces with an innovative layout and smart storage solutions. The exterior design is by Perini Navi design office and the sophisticated interior design is by PH Design the Miami-based studio’s first yacht project.
Sybaris has a brand new power management designed by Perini Navi as are the innovative self-driven captive winches.
Philippe Briand said: “I enjoyed being part of this Design team and working with its highly talented members as Franco Romani of Perini Navi design office, PH Design, the shipyard Perini Navi and Bill Duker, the owner of Sybaris who brought this team together”.
Sybaris was also shortlisted as a finalist in six categories of the ShowBoats Design Awards, held in Kitzbühel in February 2017. She went on to take home more trophies than any other superyacht, including titles for Best Interior Layout & Design and Best Lighting Design, as well as the award for Newcomer of the Year, presented to PH Design.

Barneys New York, chief executive officer per Daniella Vitale

February 6, 2017 Leave a comment

daniella-vitale

Louis Vuitton, primo pop-up italiano in Brera a Milano

January 13, 2017 Leave a comment

louis-vuitton-store-brera
