12th UNIT OF A85 SOLD TO A BRITISH CLIENT

ARCADIA YACHTS’ DEBUT MODEL STILL LEADING-EDGE

– ARCADIA YACHTS has sold the 12th example of its first model – two A85s have splashed each year since the model premiered
– The sale also confirms the Italian brand’s international appeal as the new owner is a British citizen

Some yachts remain at the cutting-edge for many years after they first appear on the market. The ARCADIA A85 is one such fortunate craft. The very first model from an Italian yard hailed a radical break with tradition on its launch seven years ago and very quickly set a new benchmark for the sector. The design remains so contemporary, in fact, that several new builds making an appearance on the market were clearly inspired by the ARCADIA YACHTS 26-metre.

ARCADIA is now delighted to announce the sale of A85 Hull no. 12 to a British owner. This is a particularly significant achievement as it means that, seven years on from its unveiling, the A85 continues to sell at a rate of two a year worldwide. The Arcadia Yachts brand’s international appeal is one of its greatest strengths: almost all of its models have sold to owners from outside of Italy, demonstrating that the unique features the craft offer are acknowledged across the globe.
The yard’s solidity also means that owners only have a short wait for delivery of their yachts. A85 Hull no. 12 is a perfect example, as, with negotiations underway, we quickly put a new unit into production, cutting delivery time to just over four months from the order date.
WHAT MAKES THE A85 UNIQUE
Man, his relationship with nature and his ability to live in harmony with his surroundings have always been at the very heart of ARCADIA’s design philosophy. Even the most cursory glance at the A85 is confirmation of that approach. Its styling is simple and sober with a harmonious mix of interior and exterior areas. Even the enclosed spaces seem to melt away and disappear into the surrounding natural setting.The linear design of the superstructure and the vertical line of the bow have allowed us to make optimal use of every single inch of available space both interior and exterior – a fact attested to by the generous 100 square metres or so of living area on the main deck which is significantly larger than other yachts of similar dimensions on the market.The A85S’s main saloon is cosy and inviting with a large eight-seater table in its bow area so that diners can be served directly from the galley via a sliding hatch.

The bright winter garden leads into the spacious aft-deck lounge, where the cockpit includes a second table ideal for al fresco lunches and suppers. There is also a large sunning area from where owner and guests can truly luxuriate in the marine environment.
There are four cabins on the lower deck, the most notable of which is, of course, the master amidships. This impressive 32 square metre space includes an unparalleled bathroom with its own large wellness area. The spacious VIP cabin, complete with double bed and walk-in closet, lies forward. Last but not least are the two twin guest cabins. The quarters for the 4 crew are in the bow section.

LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY
One of the A85’s other great strengths is its extremely efficient fuel consumption which is 30-50% lower than semi-displacement yachts of comparable dimensions, resulting in similarly lower running costs. These results come thanks to the yacht’s NPL semi-planing hull which was developed by the National Physical Laboratory in England to deliver the most hydrodynamically efficient hull forms and length-beam ratio. The combination of this advanced hull and ARCADIA YACHTS’s exceptionally light superstructure has produced impressive performance figures even under limited engine power which in turn cuts costs.The A85 sports twin 730 hp MAN diesel engines, guaranteeing it a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising one of 16. Needless to say, absolute comfort is guaranteed. The engine room is insulated with multilayer sound-absorbent materials and also features silenced exhausts to reduce guest-perceived noise levels. Consequently, a level of just 70 dB was recorded on the aft-deck of the A85 at 12 knots which is just slightly above the murmur of a crowded saloon. Staying with the subject of acoustic comfort, the internal bulkheads were also made using specific sound-absorbent okoumé marine ply panels over an extruded polystyrene closed-cell foam core to guarantee absolute privacy and quiet to guests.The ARCADIA YACHTS’ philosophy focuses not just on fostering a closer relationship with the environment but also on actively safeguarding it. In fact, over 40 square metres of solar panels have been integrated into the A85’s superstructure, yielding around 4.5 kW of power. This is enough to run the main utilities aboard which, in turn, results in a considerable saving in diesel, reduced pollution levels and improved onboard comfort, thanks to a substantial reduction in noise and vibration levels as well as zero emissions.

Grandi progetti per Stella McCartney che ha programmato per i prossimi due mesi l’apertura di ben quattro boutique. Con loro verrà inaugurato anche il nuovo concept che d’ora in poi  caratterizzerà gli store della Maison.

Parole d’ordine: cura al dettaglio, fatto a mano e attenzione alla sostenibilità. “Volevo suscitare una forte emozione sensoriale nei clienti che visitano i nostri store, curando non solo i prodotti ma anche l’ambiente circostante – ha raccontato la stilista – Inoltre, mi sono posta l’obiettivo di esplorare nuove finiture prendendo in considerazione materiali più sostenibili e rispettosi dell’ambiente con cui creare un’atmosfera più moderna e al passo con i tempi”.

Il primo negozio aprirà i battenti a breve: sarà a Parigi, in Rue Saint Honorè, e andrà ad aggiungersi alla buotique di Galerie Valois aperta nel 2009. Sviluppato su una superficie di 180 metri quadrati su due livelli, ospiterà tutte le collezioni della griffe, dal ready to wear al pret-a-porter, senza dimenticare lingerie, beach wear, calzature e accessori. Così come negli altri futuri monomarca della griffe, verranno utilizzati materiali ecofriendly e riciclati, come legno di recupero e calcestruzzo gettato in opera, ma anche pezzi su misura e fatti a mano, come le piastrellature. Per gli interni invece largo spazio verrà lasciato ai colori tipici del brand e ad un fitto sistema di guide in ottone che sarà la linea guida per il cliente all’interno dello store. La stilista sceglierà poi per ogni boutique alcuni pezzi d’arredamento tra le creazioni degli stilisti contemporanei e gli acquisti fatti alle aste, seguendo una piena filosofia del riuso.

A ruota seguiranno poi le inaugurazioni di Firenze (in Via degli Tosinghi), Costa Mesa (South Coast Plaza) e a New York (al 929 di Madison Avenuen): “Saranno fondamentali per incrementare la forza del marchio e garantire maggiore accessibilità ai prodotti diStella McCartney”, parola del CEO Frederick Lukoff.

OTAM CUSTOM RANGE SD 35m M/Y GIPSY WINS THE WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS 2017 IN THE CATEGORY 34M TO 39.9M PLANING MOTOR YACHTS

We are pleased to announce that the M/Y Gipsy – the first unit in the Ligurian shipyard’s aluminum Otam Custom Range – has won a World Superyacht Award in the “Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 34m to 39.9m” category on Saturday May 13th during the ceremony held by Boat International Media in Florence, Italy.

This result follows last February’s win in the ShowBoats Design Awards 2017 in the category “Best naval architecture 2017”.

The judges at The World Superyacht Awards 2017 have awarded the SD 35m M/Y Gipsy in the Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 34m to 39.9m category. Among their motivations the clean lines and the optimization of exterior space stand out. The judges also evidenced “the modern style of the interiors, perfectly integrated with her exterior lines”.

At the same time the yacht was also commended for her ability to reach a speed of 20 knots and cruise with a range of 2,000 miles at a cruising speed of 11 knots. The yard from Genoa has managed to unite efficient hydrodynamics with elegant lines, with special attention paid to performance, sea-kindliness, range and fuel efficiency.

This the mantra of Otam Yachts, with their 63 years of history and construction based on the creation of yachts with exceptional sea keeping qualities and efficient, sporty performance.

The yard is extremely proud to receive this award as recognition not only for the yacht itself, but for the incredible passion and effort exhibited by the yard since its beginning in 1954.

Versatility, performance and an ever so close attention paid to detailing and materials. These are the concepts that are at the basis of all the RIBs produced by the Greek Technohull shipyard and are all perfectly integrated in their best  selling model, the seaDNS999G5 that can reach a top speed of 90 knots(*) with exceptional safety – another obsession guiding the entire Technohull team.

These concepts are part of the DNA of the Greek yard from Alimos, one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Athens. These concepts have permitted – since the birth of the yard in 2005 – to produce a series of models that are so versatile that they are ideal both as luxury tenders for large yachts or for elegant medium range cruising.

The infusion built hull, made of epoxy resins and multi-directional fibers, ensures an extremely solid platform for the standard ORCA Penel Flippo 1670 tubes.

All phases of construction take place in-house, within the yard’s premises and are performed by highly specialized technicians following rigid international standards.

ONE BOW, THREE VERSIONS

With a length of 10.3 meters and a beam of 2.8, the seaDNA999G5 can adapt to a wide range of owners. This is easily seen in the three versions of the bow area that the yard offers.

Open: Here we have a V-shaped settee that conceals a spacious storage area, while the raised step at the peak considerably facilitates embarking and disembarking, making this version ideal as a tender for large yachts.

Delta: Perfect for relaxing daily use and enjoyable anchorages immersed in nature thanks to the sun-bathing area that covers the entire bow area.

Cabin: Dedicated to those who want to enjoy short cruises, this layout is characterized by a cabin with a double bed and an enclosed bathroom. Light and air are assured by the large companionway.

A TRUE “TOY FOR BOYS”!
The ergonomic center console is equipped with two wrap-around shock-absorbing seats, perfect for safe and controlled steering even in rough seas. The instrument panel includes a “Smart Central Consol Touchscreen”. The optional mobile kitchen with sink and burner is located aft of the console seats. A real “toy for boys”!

MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM ASTERN
While the yard chooses to offer three versions of the bow area, astern they offer four!

Three of the four versions are for the outboard motor propulsion systems and let the owner chose between an elongated divan, a U-shaped settee, or a recessed sun-deck.

In all three versions the two bathing platforms with boarding ladders next to the motors are perfect for afternoons at anchor and refreshing showers.

The yard’s inboard propulsion option includes an elongated divan and an extra-large sun-bathing area above the engine room. A classic solution whose strength is its convenience.

EXTREME PERFORMANCE
As we stated above, performance and handling are among the fundamental strengths of the Alimos’ yard. Owners may choose from a wide range of propulsion systems for the seaDNA999G5 to take full advantage of the deep-V hull that guarantees an easy ride over the waves and perfect control even when making maneuvers at high speed.

The outboard version offers four horsepower options (2x250hp, 2x300hp, 2x350hp, 2x400hp) that ensure astounding performance, from a top speed of 68 knots for the base version (with a cruising speed of 50 knots) to a top speed of 90 knots (70 cruising) with the twin 400hp option.

The inboard version includes two options: a single engine with either 220 or 370hp or twin engines of 265hp each. The seaDNA99G5 has a top speed of 63 knots depending on the configuration chosen.

RANGE ISN’T A PROBLEM, ANYMORE

“Best Sailing Yacht of 2017”, prestigious World Superyacht Awards for Sybaris by Perini Navi

S/Y SYBARIS PERINI NAVI NAMED 2017’S BEST SAILING YACHT AT 2017  WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS

Philippe Briand has designed the hull, underwater appendages, rig, sail plan and main characteristics of this modern 70 metre ketch. He is the main naval architect of the project.
All judges were impressed with the naval architecture, sailing ability, supreme comfort, exceptional division of internal volumes and her technical innovations.

The 70 metre superyacht Sybaris by Perini Navi has been proclaimed ‘Best Sailing Yacht of 2017’ in both the 40-metres-plus category and overall at this year’s prestigious World Superyacht Awards. The official ceremony was held on 13 May in Florence, Italy.
Philippe Briand has designed the hull, underwater appendages, rig, sail plan and main characteristics of this modern 70 metre ketch. He is the main naval architect of the project.
The Owner of Sybaris – Mr Bill Duker referred: “Philippe Briand was selected to be the naval architect for Sybaris because he was seen 5 years ago as the person who would be regarded as the best naval architect today. The selection of Sybaris as the best sailing yacht in the 40-metres-plus category and the sailing yacht overall winner proves we were correct.”
The Jury panel commented their decision: “Sybaris not only impressed the judges with its sailing ability – particularly in light airs when many yachts of this size resort to mechanical power – but also in the yacht’s supreme comfort and optimum division of internal volume that entirely suits the owner’s needs. Some technical innovations have already been mentioned, but there are more in that the sail plan, rig and underwater appendages were subjected to extensive CFD testing, which allowed detailed optimization of rig, hull shape and appendages. Beautiful, capable, comfortable, and technically advanced this is a yacht that was considered supreme for its purpose”.
The streamlined and contemporary superstructure is topped with an impressive flying bridge that is 18m in length; the largest of any sailing yacht afloat. At 850 gross tonnes, Sybaris has wide-open and well-lit interior spaces with an innovative layout and smart storage solutions. The exterior design is by Perini Navi design office and the sophisticated interior design is by PH Design the Miami-based studio’s first yacht project.
Sybaris has a brand new power management designed by Perini Navi as are the innovative self-driven captive winches.
Philippe Briand said: “I enjoyed being part of this Design team and working with its highly talented members as Franco Romani of Perini Navi design office, PH Design, the shipyard Perini Navi and Bill Duker, the owner of Sybaris who brought this team together”.
Sybaris was also shortlisted as a finalist in six categories of the ShowBoats Design Awards, held in Kitzbühel in February 2017. She went on to take home more trophies than any other superyacht, including titles for Best Interior Layout & Design and Best Lighting Design, as well as the award for Newcomer of the Year, presented to PH Design.

YNAP, first mover nel mondo secondo Federico Marchetti

Federico Marchetti è soddisfatto del lavoro svolto nel primo trimestre, si dice entusiasta della partnership siglata con il gruppo Alabbar per il Medio Oriente e soprattutto non ha paura della concorrenza di gruppi più “giovani” come Farfetch. «Abbiamo il vantaggio competitivo nell’essere first mover», ha affermato l’a.d. di Yoox Net-à-Porter a margine dell’assemblea dei soci.

Nessun timore, dunque, verso la piattaforma fondata da Josè Neves, che si è da poco assicurata la collaborazione di Natalie Massenet, fondatrice di Net-à-Porter e che gode di grande attenzione da parte di media e analisti.

«La concorrenza alla fine fa bene se leale, abbiamo tanti piccoli competitor e non solo Farfetch, che comunque registra un fatturato pari a un decimo del nostro», ha minimizzato Marchetti.

L’imprenditore ha preferito parlare del suo gruppo, fondato nel 2000, e dei nuovi progetti in fase di lancio. «Sono molto soddisfatto del lavoro svolto nel primo trimestre dalle 4.128 persone che ogni giorno pensano a far crescere questa azienda» ha sottolineato, senza fornire indicazioni concrete sui risultati, che saranno pubblicati il 3 maggio.

Il ceo di Ynap ha ricordato che il gruppo ha messo in cantiere un aggressivo piano di espansione in Medio Oriente, «mercato che insieme all’Asia – ha precisato – sarà a forte crescita».

Proprio nel Middle East Ynap può contare sull’alleanza con il gruppo Alabbar, proprietario del Dubai Mall. «Mohamed Alabbar – ha osservato Marchetti – è l’imprenditore più innovativo dell’area. Questa è la partnership con la persona giusta nel posto giusto».

Sempre a margine dell’assemblea dei soci, Marchetti ha confermato l’intenzione di lanciare la private label del gruppo entro fine 2017: «Siamo un retailer, quindi vogliamo accontentare i nostri clienti. Se non trovano qualcosa, vogliamo colmare il gap. Si tratterà sempre di un complemento dell’assortimento, non sarà mai il nostro core business. Non si connota come una vera collezione, non ci mettiamo a fare gli stilisti. Sarà presente su Yoox e The Outnet».

Marchetti ha escluso operazioni di acquisizioni di siti o anche il lancio di nuovi prodotti al di fuori del perimetro di moda e design. «Abbiamo fatto di recente un’operazione che ci posiziona come leader mondiale, con un fatturato da quasi 2 miliardi di dollari» ha fatto notare, alludendo all’integrazione tra Yoox e Net-a-Porter.

V46 IPS, first model of the new IPS line by Vicem Yachts

Vicem Yachts is proud to announce the successful world premier of the V46 IPS – the very first model of the new Vicem IPS line – at the Palm Beach International Boat Show (March 23 – 26, 2017). 

This model is the first Vicem built in fiberglass/epoxy, in this size. Light and sturdy, the Vicem 46 IPS, with a beam of 14′,9”, has sufficient interior volume to allow the owner to choose between spacious two and three cabin designs. The yacht’s dimensions boast a LOA of 14.02m (46′) and a draft of 0.70m (2’4′)’ with a displacement of 18,000kg (39,683lbs.) at full load.

This yacht – designed by Vicem’s in-house design team – has a handsome classic look and provides a quiet, smooth ride, thanks to Vicem’s renowned superior design and construction techniques. The Vicem 46 IPS combines elegant looks with sportive lines and technology. With excellent use of exterior and interior design, the Vicem 46’ stands out from other yachts of the same length.

The primary aim when designing the 46 IPS was to create comfortable and luminous spaces. When coming aboard, you enter first into the bar zone with, a comfortable L-shaped settee. The lounge and cockpit are separated by a sliding door: when open there is no longer any separation and a single large living space has been created.

The lounge area offers comfortable seating to fully enjoy the entertainment systems, while the large side windows and front windshield provide excellent visibility and lots of daylight. For maximum comfort when under way, the helmsman has an ergonomic chair and the station is complete with up-to-date electronic instruments.

The importance of a side door to the lounge shouldn’t be underestimated as it considerably eases movement around the vessel, especially when mooring.

The interiors, all air conditioned, are quite spacious – this is thanks to the Volvo Penta IPS engines that allow for a smaller engine room – with obvious advantages for livability.

The standard layout for the sleeping area foresees two spacious double berth cabins and a functional open space galley.
The owner’s cabin has a queen size bed, ample storage space, an entertainment system and a private bathroom complete with shower. Through-hull windows provide excellent natural lighting.
The guest cabin is equipped with two single berths that can be joined to make a single queen-size bed, while the guest bathroom can also be used as a day-head.
The galley (down) is fully equipped for long cruising and comes with two electric burners, a microwave oven and ample storage space.

The flybridge version hosts a bar area with electric BBQ and refrigerator, in addition to the lounge area and the captain’s seat.

Classico o alternativo? Total body o solo un touch? Il conto alla rovescia per il Carnevale è partito ed anche la caccia al travestimento perfetto, che coinvolge sì i più piccoli, ma anche tanti adulti, pronti a dar sfogo alla fantasia in vista della festa più allegra e colorata dell’anno.
