Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 8, docking station for iPad, iPhone and iPod Apple

July 24, 2012 Leave a comment

BeoSound 8
Think of a room, any room. A bedroom, guest room, or open-plan kitchen? In a summerhouse, chic apartment, or family home? Now just add BeoSound 8 to fill up your room with Bang & Olufsen sound and style. If you keep your music on an iPad, iPhone, iPod or computer, you are all set to discover the iconic style and breathtaking sound quality that has made Bang & Olufsen one of the most sought-after names in home audio.
Move BeoSound 8 from room to room or hang it on a wall. All you need is a power outlet, your music player of choice, and a desire for real sound quality. Secure your iPad, iPhone, or iPod firmly in the adjustable holder and prepare for a surprise. The sleek speaker design gives little clue about the fidelity and depth of the sound that is about to come your way. The conical shape of the speakers on BeoSound 8 has two functions. Design-wise, the shapes ‘disappear’ to create an unobtrusive impression from most viewing angles and make placement easier. In terms of audio quality, they eliminate standing waves by avoiding parallel surfaces. It may sound very technical, but you’ll find that the proof is in the experience.
Playing music from your own phone, computer, or media player gives you the advantage of a familiar navigation environment. In addition, you can now download an app version of the sleek and stylish BeoPlayer for your docked iPad, iPhone, or iPod. You can also adjust sound levels and skip tracks quickly and conveniently on BeoSound 8 itself. Music on a docked or USB linked device can be controlled via the dedicated round remote control or of course your existing Beo4 or Beo6 remote controls if you already own other Bang & Olufsen equipment.
To match your personal taste and the room you place it in, BeoSound 8 comes in either black or white with aluminium details and matching power cord. When you feel the need to add a splash of colour to the room, the list of options includes six fabric speaker covers in yellow, orange, red, silver, black and white.
More than just a dock
BeoSound 8 offers you a number of additional connection options that give you added flexibility and enjoyment.
Abundant connection options
Think the only use for BeoSound 8 is as a docking station? Well, think again. Consider it a docking station with flexible connection options designed for how you live.
Need a powerful speaker for your PC or Mac? Simply connect your BeoSound 8, and voilà. You’ll hear full, rich sound from your computer as you never have before. And, you’ll appreciate the beauty that the attractive BeoSound 8 will add to your setup as well.
Want to hear music on BeoSound 8 without having to dock your iPhone? With Airport Express, it’s easy to use your phone without it having to be tied down during docking. You and your phone can relax on the couch, while you continue to enjoy your favourite tunes.
Room adaptation switch
For the best possible sound in any placement, BeoSound 8 is equipped with Bang & Olufsen’s unique room adaptation switch
BeoSound 8 offers flexible placement options to fit easily in your living space. You can hang it on a wall using a custom wall bracket or place it on a side table, where the speakers will appear to float millimetres above the surface. The conical speaker backs are excellent if you prefer to place your BeoSound 8 in a corner. But a loudspeaker’s performance is strongly influenced by its physical position in the room, and a corner placement can be especially difficult, as the walls will tend to “play along”, muddling the bass level in particular. Luckily, Bang & Olufsen has a solution.
BeoSound 8 can be adjusted to its placement by means of a manual position switch, which adjusts the speakers’ performance according to whether the system is placed in a corner, against a wall, or standing freely. The three switch positions will change the equalization of primarily the bass channel according to a room response target based on a large number of measurements taken in different positions in different rooms.
This unique Bang & Olufsen feature was introduced to ensure accurate sound reproduction at all times with complete freedom of placement.
Adaptive Bass Linearization
BeoSound 8 benefits from advanced acoustical know-how and exclusive technologies to deliver big sound from small speakers.
ABL is a Bang & Olufsen patented solution basically to get more bass in small spaces. It is a solution where we make use of the surplus capacity in the built-in amplifiers and driver units at normal listening levels, for a bass extension. With this, we get more bass than the loudspeaker would otherwise be able to produce. However, this solution entails a risk that the driver unit might not be able to handle the extra boosts at higher volume levels. To solve this, we have introduced an electric circuit to monitor the sound level, so when the music peaks in the lower frequency areas and maybe come close to distorting the sound quality or damaging the driver unit, the bass signal is reduced accordingly
Bang & Olufsen developed Adaptive Bass Linearisation for high-end speakers like BeoLab 9, building a reputation for big and authoritative sound from relatively small speaker cabinets.
BeoPlayer App for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
Download a free customised app to transform the interface on your docked device with matching Bang & Olufsen style.
Take the Bang & Olufsen experience with you
Now you can go anywhere and take along Bang & Olufsen’s exclusive design and superb ease of use on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. When you return home, all that changes is the volume and fullness of the sound that surrounds you as you dock your player in BeoSound 8.
The BeoPlayer app available via iTunes puts superior music browsing, thousands of internet radio stations, and an advanced alarm clock right in your pocket. The free version gives you 20 great stations to choose from, with the option to upgrade to more than 13,000 internet radio stations from around the world. Besides advanced scheduling options, the alarm clock gives you a choice between the gentle chime or waking to the sound of music.
Feel at home with Bang & Olufsen – wherever you are.
The perfect match between device and dock
The BeoPlayer app transforms the look and experience of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to match your Bang & Olufsen system. When docked in BeoSound 8, the BeoPlayer application adds internet radio and the elegant and colourful clock design you may know from the BeoCom 5 to your device allowing you to wake up to a gentle chime or your favourite radio station. ou can even customise the colour of the clock to match the front fabric of the speakers.
A complete package of design, consistency and convenience.
Did you know
The docking brace on BeoSound 8 adapts to accommodate a range of devices from a slim iPod touch, iPhone, or iPod to the bulkier iPad. No other docking station on the market supports iPad this elegantly.

Marvin Loeb Summer Collection, two sporty watches

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Two new sporty watches in summer colours developed in partnership with Sébastien Loeb, seven-time world rally champion.
A racing watch
The Loeb collection from Marvin evokes the world of rallying in its smallest details, thanks to the personal contributions of Marvin’s ambassador Sébastien Loeb, who has been passionately involved in this project.
In October 2010, one month before the official launch of the watch collection that bears his name, Sébastien Loeb was crowned world champion for the seventh time running.
Dynamic and vibrantly coloured, these new models from the Marvin Loeb Summer Collection are quartz chronograph timepieces, accurate to 1/10th of a second, available on a white or orange rubber strap. The corresponding dials, in white or black with an orange border, bear the signature of Sébastien Loeb. The steel caseband, with its 44 mm diameter and shaped sides, gives it a strongly technical, dynamic appearance. The solid case back is personalised with the engraving “World Rally Champion”.
Marvin reconnects with the world of motor sport
This sporty collection makes subtle reference to Marvin’s long-standing passion for automobiles. In as early as the 1930s, the brand launched its “tyre watch”, a pocket watch housed in a rubber tyre. In the 1950s, the company director Pierre Didisheim took part in several races, where he met legendary drivers like Fangio, who went on to become a Marvin ambassador.
Movement – ETA G10.711, quartz chronograph accurate to 1/10th of a second, date between 4 and 5 o’clock, Swiss Made.
Case – Steel, 44 mm, screw-down case back and crown, push-pieces treated with black PVD, sand-blasted and fine-brushed finish; tachometric scale engraved on the bezel.
Dial – White or black with orange border and Superluminova C1 on the hour-markers. Special markings: Sébastien Loeb Signature between 3 and 4 o’clock.
Crystal – Anti-reflection sapphire, scratch-resistant.
Water-resistance – 10 ATM (100 metres, 330 ft.).
Strap – White or orange rubber, pin buckle.

Oceanco Seven Seas, yacht di lusso di Steven Spielberg

July 24, 2012 Leave a comment

Bentley Le Mans Eight 6 1/2 Litre, very impressive sporting version

Bentley 6 1/2 Litre – This Bentley Le Mans Eight is an exact copy of the Bentley Speed Six which was introduced in 1928 as a more sporting version of the Bentley 6½ Litre. It would become the most-successful racing Bentley, claiming victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1929 and 1930 with Bentley Boys drivers Woolf Barnato, “Tim” Birkin, and Glen Kidston.
This very impressive Bentley has just arrived. The car has driven only 800 miles since it was built. It has had a 500 miles check and is the best driving Le Mans Eight we have had until now.
This Bentley Le Mans Eight is an exact copy of the Bentley Speed Six which was introduced in 1928 as a more sporting version of the Bentley 6½ Litre. It would become the most-successful racing Bentley, claiming victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1929 and 1930 with Bentley Boys drivers Woolf Barnato, “Tim” Birkin, and Glen Kidston.
The car is completely built by craftsman in the United Kingdom using the traditional methods and materials. It is a faithful and detailed recreation of one of the most evocative sports cars ever produced – The Bentley Speed Six.
Documentation is coming with the car that the Bentley Drivers Club confirms that this car was manufactured in 1951 from its original components, fitted with an ash framed tourer body.
Whilst it retains all the looks and proportions of the original Speed Six, known to be W.O.Bentley’s favourite car, it has the advantages of more modern driving characteristics including, lighter steering, up-rated brakes and suspension. This makes it not only more appropriate for current road conditions but also a delight to drive and easier and less expensive to maintain.
The engine is a rebuilt straight eight Bentley unit which is slightly modified. , modified slightly, breathing through four period SU carburettors. The ash framed, aluminium panelled body, constructed to the dimensions and proportions of the original coachwork, is covered in the traditional green leather cloth and complimented by green leather upholstery. Weather protection is provided by a double-duck hood and full-length tonneau. Period instrumentation, set into a machine turned aluminium dashboard completes the nostalgic feel of the interior.
Since this Bentley was built, it has only driven 800 miles from which a 100 miles has been driven by ourselves. We have to say that this is a unique experience. Although the Bentley is big and heavy it is relatively easy to drive. The reactions of persons on the street are amazing. A lot of people take their camera’s to make pictures and movies and the first person we spoke with described it as being amazing. It was the nicest car he had ever seen in his life.
It is indeed extremely nice. Every detail is made extensively well and therefore it takes a long time to create these cars.
It is advised to give these cars a full service 500 miles after the delivery. This specific Bentley has had that service and the car is driving therefore excellent.
A fantastic car, done by THE specialists, Racing Green.
For more information or an appointment, please Please feel free to contact us by phone during evenings or in the weekend.

July 24, 2012 Leave a comment

This slideshow requires JavaScript.
